56. Maprik High School Opening |
In 1971 the Maprik High School students moved from their temporary location at Bainyik, shared with the Primary School and Vocational Centre, to their very own site out in the kunai near Hayfield airstrip. A big singsing was organised in which many schools, including ours, took part. The prize for best-dressed Maprik Primary School student went to this Bongiora boy, prepared by his Dad for the singsing. (This very image appeared throughout the country on postcards for a few years - I took the original photograph).
