The following items were discussed by the Management Committee when it met on Sunday 3 May 2009.
Information about Postal Ballot for AGM
Nomination forms for the 2009/2010 Management Committee, together with a 200 word bio of the person being nominated, need to be received by the Secretary by 21 May. Once they have been received a ballot paper will be drawn up and sent out for members on 28 May with Una Voce. A reply paid envelope will also be included for the return of the ballot paper. Only one ballot paper is to be included in each envelope. The ballot paper will need to be returned to the Secretary by 26 June, prior to the AGM on 28 June 2009. Two independent Returning Officers will oversee the ballot.
Annual General Meeting
There was some discussion over arrangements for the AGM which will be held on 28 June at the Killara Golf Club in Sydney. As the SGM held on 26 April was also a luncheon it has been decided that the AGM will be held in the afternoon. After the meeting there will be High Tea to allow those who attend to socialise.
PNGAA Items and Storage
As a number of current Management Committee members have indicated that they will not be standing for re-election all Committee members have been asked to prepare a list of items belonging to the PNGAA that are in their keeping. The Committee believes there are a significant number of items belonging to the PNGAA held on its behalf in various people’s houses. There was some discussion regarding the need for future storage of these items.
Fryer Library
It was decided to purchase a copy of Karl Baumann’s book Recollections of Early White Colonists and Adventurers in German New Guinea at an approximate cost of $275 with current exchange rates. It would be bookplated as a donation by the PNGAA and, at some stage, translated by their German Department. This is a highly regarded book concerning the history of German New Guinea and considered a worthwhile donation.
Superannuation
Fred Kaad reported that the efforts to have the PNG superannuants adjustments based on average weekly earning rather than CPI are on going.
Website
Robin Mead reported that there have been over 1800 ‘hits’ to the aviation topic in the Forum section of the PNGAA website.
South Australia
Riley Warren reported that a very successful get together of the members of the PNGAA and the PNG Association had been held in Adelaide recently.
