Maxwell R. Charles Betteridge by email: story of the battle of Driniumor River, Aitape area, 10/11 July – 25 August 1944; 3,000 Americans and 8,000 – 10,000 Japanese killed. Nearby creeks clogged with Japanese bodies which polluted village drinking water for some weeks. Story put in Fryer e-space.
